Brand Evolution · DTC Ecommerce · Commerce7 · Custom WordPress
OVERVIEW
We connected with Van Duzer during a exciting transition for the winery. They were in the process of moving away from WineDirect and were looking at a completely new website that could be combined with Commerce7 to support increased online DTC revenue.
At the same time, they were also working through a redesign of their tasting room, giving us a really great opportunity to rethink how their in-person and online experiences could work together.
We initially came on to consultant with Van Duzer about which webiste platform would make the most sense for this build-out. After diving into their goals, needs, and plans for the future, we determined that a custom WordPress + Elementor site would give them the flexibility and ecommerce functionality they were looking for.
From there, we worked with the Van Duzer team to bring in Good Chance Creative to develop their new marketing image library, which gave us a great creative foundation to build the new site around.
A Legacy Brand With A New Look
With the tasting room going through its own redesign, it was important that the website felt like an extension of that experience rather than something completely separate.
We spent time digging into the new creative direction, figuring out how to translate the look & feel of the new tasting room online, and making sure the website still felt distinctly Van Duzer while giving their customers a much easier way to explore the wines, learn about the winery, and plan a visit.
We wanted the new site to feel welcoming and approachable, while still giving the wines and the new brand plenty of room to breathe.
Starting With A Strong Foundation
Because Van Duzer was making such a big technology change, we wanted to make sure we were making the right decisions before jumping into design.
We worked through the site's architecture, content, user flows, and ecommerce experience to build a blueprint for how everything would come together.
A big part of that was figuring out how Commerce7 would fit into the overall experience and making sure the transition from WineDirect wouldn't just replicate what they had before- it would give them something better to build on.
Once the blueprint was finalized, we moved into design and began bringing the new creative direction into the digital experience.
Built Around Commerce7
Development included a custom WordPress site built around Elementor for easy in-house post-launch editing, along with an elevated Commerce7 integration designed specifically around Van Duzer's ecommerce needs.
We built out custom collection and product experiences, integrated Google and Apple Pay, and added the wine-specific functionality needed to make the new site work the way a winery website should.
Post- Launch, we also set up custom Google Tag Manager tracking for Commerce7-specific events, giving the Van Duzer team a much clearer picture of what customers are actually doing throughout the ecommerce experience. (Because being able to see what happens after someone clicks "buy" is pretty important! ;) )
