Brand Evolution · DTC Ecommerce · Commerce7 · Custom WordPress

OVERVIEW

We were contacted by Walla Walla while they were completing a full redesign of their legacy labels. Following a recent acquisition, the new owners were looking to completely modernize the brand and create a digital experience that better reflected where they wanted to take the winery.

The legacy labels and overall branding were being reimagined, with a much more modern visual direction that would help introduce Walla Walla Vintners to a younger audience while still honoring the winery's history and place in the Walla Walla Valley.

At the same time, they were looking to move away from their existing website and build a new digital experience around Commerce7 that could better support their growing DTC business.

We worked with the Walla Walla Vintners team to determine the right approach for the new website, ultimately developing a custom WordPress site that would give them the flexibility they needed while creating a much more elevated ecommerce experience.

From there, we brought in Good Chance Creative to help develop the visual direction and marketing image library, along with Jake Parrish for additional on-site photography, giving us the creative assets we needed to bring the new brand to life online.

A Legacy Brand With A New Point Of View

As the premier winery in Walla Walla since the 80s, Walla Walla Vintners had built a strong reputation over the years, but the new ownership saw an opportunity to take the brand in a completely new direction.

The new label designs and visual identity were a major part of that transformation, and the website needed to feel like a natural extension of the new brand.

We leaned into the new visual direction throughout the site, creating a more modern, approachable experience that could speak to a younger audience while still feeling rooted in the winery's history and connection to Walla Walla.

We also wanted to make sure the new photography and imagery had room to shine! We suggested working with Good Chance Creative and Jake Parrish, which ultimately gave us a great mix of brand-focused visuals and on-site imagery that helped bring the winery, its wines, and its sense of place into the experience.

Using Legacy to Inform Every Element of the Site

With so much changing behind the scenes, we wanted to make sure the website had a strong foundation before jumping into design.

We worked through the site's architecture, content, user flows, and ecommerce experience to create a blueprint for how everything would come together.

A big part of that was figuring out how Commerce7 could work within the new brand experience and making sure the transition to a new website gave Walla Walla Vintners more flexibility and room to grow.

Once the blueprint was finalized, we moved into design and began translating the new visual identity into a digital experience that felt modern, approachable, and distinctly Walla Walla Vintners.

Development included a custom WordPress site built around Elementor for easy in-house post-launch editing, along with an elevated Commerce7 integration designed specifically around Walla Walla Vintners' ecommerce needs.

We built out custom collection and product experiences, integrated Google and Apple Pay, and added the wine-specific functionality needed to make the new site work the way a modern winery website should.
